Join us at Winterwares to learn the art of Kintsugi – repairing broken pottery with gold.
Kintsugi is more than just a Japanese art form; it's a philosophy that celebrates imperfections and teaches us to embrace the beauty of our scars. This ancient practice involves repairing broken ceramics with lacquer mixed with powdered gold.
In this workshop you will repair a small Winterwares bowl. You will learn skills and techniques to be able to repair your own precious ceramic items at home.
We have sourced the most sustainable Kintsugi kits available. Featuring a world-class Bio based epoxy glue (made from cashew nut shells!) packaged in 80% recycled material and using the world's best biodegradable nitrile gloves. The mica colour powder is vegan and ethically sourced.
For inspiration, read about Simone's first encounter with Kintsugi – A broken jug, a sake bar and a life lesson.
We invite you to slow down, reconnect, and leave with a piece of art and a piece of yourself made more beautiful through healing.
You will take home a kit with everything you need to repair more ceramic objects at home.
At our studio & store in the West End of Fremantle, at 34 Henry Street.
This workshop runs from 6.30pm to 8.30pm
We supply everything, including a Kintsugi kit to take home, allowing you to mend and beautify up to 8 more small to medium sized broken ceramic pieces.
Absolutely! The workshops are completely guided with a gentle pace. No experience necessary.
We believe in a personalised experience, so we limit class sizes to a maximum of 6 people. This ensures you get the attention you need.
As a small business, we're unable to absorb the expenses associated with rescheduling workshop spots. Therefore, all workshop ticket sales are considered final and non-refundable. Credit will not be offered and we are unable to make exchanges to other workshops or products. If you can't make it you're more than welcome to send a friend along in your place. Please contact us if you want to transfer your ticket to someone else.
