Private Workshops

with Simone, founder of Winterwares

“It was a delight to create peacefully without interruption and produce something beyond what I thought would be possible in such a short time. Would recommend it to everyone.” – Gabby

Give yourself permission to slow down

I’d be delighted to host you and your partner for a special anniversary, a group of friends for a hen’s or baby shower or just becuase you want to do something wonderful and memorable with the people you love.

Private workshops in the Winterwares pottery studio are designed to give you some time out from the busyness of day to day life. My aim is to give you the experience of meditation through movement. When your hands are busy your mind naturally becomes quiet and calm.

We’ll spend a day slowing down and being in the moment with your hands in the clay to create your own piece. There’s no pressure to create a particular style, I’ll gently guide you to create something that you’ll love.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m not very artistic, will I be able to make something nice?

The classes I teach are easy for any skill level. We won’t be using a wheel, it’s all hand building. Winterwares workshops aren’t about learning specific pottery techniques, they’re about having the experience of relaxing in a beautiful, calming space.

I love your style of ceramics, can you teach me how to make plates and bowls exactly like yours?

I’m so delighted that you love the Winterwares range, thank you! This is my personal style that I’ve created and it’s important to me that you find your own style. The focus on the class is not about creating a certain piece or having a particular pre-determined outcome. I want you to draw your attention to the process of being in the moment rather than being worried about the end result.

How many people can come to a private class?

On weekdays, the minimum number is 2 and maximum is 10. The minimum number for a Saturday or Sunday is 6 people.

Where is the workshop held?

The Winterwares studio is at 10 Stack Street, Fremantle. In the co-op working warehouse called Stackwood. Winterwares workshops run independently from the Stackwood workshops.
